How to paint the doors?
Before you start painting the door, you need to decide what to paint them with? The answer to this question depends on which doors it is: entrance or interior. Interior doors are almost always under the influence of external conditions: temperature, humidity. While the input is under the influence of constantly changing factors. Accordingly, in order to paint the front door, some paintwork materials will be required, and for painting the interior doors - others.
Now there is a huge selection of paints and varnishes intended for painting various types of doors. Often among these paints and varnishes there are acrylic enamels, oil paints and nitro paints. It is worth saying that oil paints are gradually losing their popularity. This is due to the fact that they dry for a very long time and have an unpleasant odor.
Increasingly, instead of oil paints, alternative options are used to update the appearance of the doors. For example, alkyd enamels have the following advantages: high strength and durability. Their disadvantage is an unpleasant odor that persists for a rather long time (about 48 hours). Acrylic enamels, on the contrary, have no unpleasant odor. In addition, they can last up to 20 years. However, they are used in combination with varnish, which should correspond to them. The advantage of nitro paints is their durability, but they also have a significant drawback - high toxicity, so nitro paints are used for painting doors only in non-residential premises.
The service life of other types of paints used for painting doors:
- water dispersion (more than 10 - 20 years);
- silicate (about 20 years);
- silicone (about 20 years);
- enamel (about 10 years).

For painting entrance doors, paints that are designed to perform external finishing work are ideal. For example, alkyd enamels have one important quality specifically for external doors - they are resistant to moisture.
