Unusual houses - a view from a different angle (26 photos)

From ancient times, people try to stand out with something, to rise above the gray routine. This is especially noticeable in architecture. Egyptian pharaohs, not sparing the lives of builders, erected high pyramids that have been standing for several millennia. The Romans built the giant Colosseum amphitheater, the remains of which have survived to this day. Russian tsars invited famous Italian architects to perpetuate their power. In Europe and Asia, rulers built palaces and houses of unusual architecture, wishing to capture the imagination of contemporaries. Many managed to leave a memory of themselves for centuries. In our century, architects have learned to build original houses that are accessible to ordinary people, and not to kings.
Exotic antique styling
It would seem that it is difficult to surprise people of our time with something, but modern architects know how to do this. The huge castles of kings ceased to amaze us, but what if we build a miniature castle on our site? This will amaze the imagination of the neighbors.
Many are struck by unusual residential buildings, which differ from simple cottages or huts with original architectural solutions.
Residential buildings, stylized as Gothic, Old Russian culture, as Chinese pagodas or palaces of the eastern padishahs have recently become especially appreciated.
The most unusual houses in the world are antique-styled buildings. People like to identify themselves with ancient and powerful civilizations, so this area of architecture is so popular.
New building technologies allow you to build houses of different eras and different nations, while maintaining complete identity, but at the same time ensuring compliance with modern requirements.
Old Russian style
Today, there are many architectural organizations that create projects of houses and cottages in the old Russian style. These are wooden buildings, created in the likeness of the palaces of the Old Russian princes. They can not only outside, but also inside correspond to the ancient historical era. The interior of such a house is selected accordingly: massive oak tables and benches, antique wall decoration, fireplaces in the form of Russian stoves.
In such a house, any number of rooms is possible, interior and exterior decoration - also for every taste. The rooms in the princely mansions were usually spacious, accommodating a whole squad at the feasts. Walls, ceilings and wooden columns supporting the ceiling vaults were painted with patterns, large lancet mica windows illuminated the rooms well.
By design, buildings can be anything. Sometimes these are frame houses built from modern materials, but you can build a building that is completely identical to the era - a log house.
Modern materials are also present in it - these are insulation, sound insulation, fireproof materials. Thanks to the combination of ancient and modern materials, such houses turn out to be surprisingly beautiful, durable and safe.
The style of medieval Europe
Unusual house designs in the style of medieval European architecture are also very popular. These are unique suburban buildings, beautiful, with lancet windows and gabled gable roofs. Their facades can be finished depending on the wishes of the customer and the designer’s imagination.
The European architecture of suburban construction is most often presented in two styles: visually heavy Gothic buildings with a somewhat gloomy atmosphere or light openwork summer houses tending to the sun, painted with cheerful flowers.
Rural or carpentry Gothic is also popular - an architectural style that originated in the USA in the second half of the 19th century and imitates Victorian neo-Gothic. There is a similar architectural style - rustic baroque. Unusual wooden houses built in this style are a bit like Gothic ones.
Another option is the technology of Central European half-timbered (frame) houses. Today, such houses are popular far beyond the borders of Germany, where they first appeared. However, today, frame house projects are used not only for styling medieval buildings; on the basis of this technology, buildings of a completely modern look are also being built.
East style
Buildings constructed in the style of Japanese, Chinese or Vietnamese architecture are not so popular in Russia, but they are also found. Roofs of private houses, designed in the style of Far Eastern pagodas, have curved shapes, symbolizing the principle of cyclicity.
Chinese and Japanese styles imply absolute minimalism. They do not have a single extra detail, either on the facade or inside. The coloring of such houses consists of a maximum of two tones: white and black, yellow and gray, as well as combinations of other traditional colors. The unusual layout of the house is combined with a very simple almost ascetic setting. Usually a small apple, pear or cherry orchard is set up next to such a house.
There are also unusual wooden houses with other characteristic Asian architectural features: low flat roofs, open verandas and guest houses. Such buildings are more convenient to build in the warm latitudes of our country, because flat roofs do not like heavy snowfalls. The facade of the house can be painted with a characteristic Asian ornament, which emphasizes its unusualness. In the courtyard you can arrange an outdoor gazebo.
Modern architectural styles
Modern wooden buildings are also unusual for our eyes, as well as antique stylization. Unusual hi-tech homes look somewhat futuristic. At first glance, they may seem like a heap of cubes, the intersection of asymmetric lines, disproportionate angles. However, a good architect from all this will make a work of art.
High-tech, widely used in the construction of huge office buildings made of glass and concrete, can be used for projects of one-story houses made of wood.
Many people are mistaken in thinking that only rectangular houses can be built from wood. Modern technologies make it possible to design and build houses from timber of any shape, from ordinary boxes to futuristic buildings in the form of an ellipse and other unusual geometric shapes. Due to the flexibility of the material with the tree, you can do anything you want, there would be a solid frame. However, futurism is not very developed in the private sector, and usually only massive reinforced concrete buildings for various corporations are built in this style. However, there are also wooden one-story houses in a similar style.
Beautiful and unusual houses are piece goods, they are specially designed for individual orders, sensitively listening to the wishes of customers. Typical designs, even the most beautiful, will never surpass original and unusual one-time projects that remain in a single execution. Indeed, designers invest more in individual projects than in standard developments. Many of these projects made with love win prestigious architectural awards such as Elitarch, Reputation, ADD Awards and many others.
