The lawn grill is an ideal option for creating natural green paths in the country (20 photos)

It is difficult to imagine even a small summer cottage without garden paths. It is commonplace to say that they should be comfortable and well-groomed. Many design options for paths can make it somewhat difficult to choose the right material. Recently, there has been a tendency not to use complex and expensive coatings for the design of tracks. The arrangement of green eco-paths is becoming fashionable, which, if desired, can easily be combined with various other finishing materials (stone, wood). It is the lawn grilles that serve as the basis for the formation of a natural and uniform grass surface.

Wooden lawn grate

The lawn grate for paths is formed from heavy-duty cells combined into modules. The individual elements of the system are connected by means of latches.

Functional Design Values:

  • strengthening the soil layer and preventing soil erosion;
  • protection of plant root systems;
  • giving the tracks an attractive appearance;
  • ensuring a smooth surface of the lawn;
  • prevention of roadside damage.

The areas of use of the construction are very diverse: playgrounds, garden paths and household plots, parking areas and access roads.

Depending on the application, the shape of the grid is selected. The rhombic and honeycomb structures are considered standard and are used primarily for pedestrian areas. Such gratings are designed for operation under load conditions up to 200t / sq.m.

Advantages of the lawn grate:

  • ease of transportation (weight of individual elements - 1-6 kg, dimensions - 400x600 mm);
  • ease of installation (it is possible to collect the lawn both manually and automatically);
  • excellent frost resistance (withstands up to - 40 ° C);
  • environmental friendliness (as a rule, the main raw material is recycled high-strength polyethylene that does not contain harmful additives);
  • simple care of the plant surface - you can cut grass with various devices: trimmers, lawn mowers and lawn mowers.

Brief description of certain types of lawn grates

Well-groomed paths do not just give the summer cottage an aesthetic appearance. It’s nice to walk barefoot on soft grass and feel the gentle and cool touch of greenery. Having spent a little money and some time, you can ennoble the garden plot and create conditions for a pleasant stay for the whole family. Depending on the load, terrain features, the type of lawn grate is also selected. Moreover, it is quite possible to use several types of structures on one site.

For cell production, concrete or high-strength plastic is used.

Plastic grilles

Such products are very in demand, as they are made of durable plastic and are available in two types - rolled and modular.

A rolled flat mesh is rolled over the soil surface and fixed with anchors. It is excellent to use for fast registration of paths - special preparation and leveling of a surface are not required.

The modular system has a three-dimensional structure, and the most popular cell shapes are rhombuses and “honeycombs”.

The lawn grate for paths in the country has the following advantages:

  • the ability to cover paths of any irregular shape (cells can be easily divided into parts);
  • accessibility of installation - special equipment is not required;
  • resistance to ultraviolet radiation;
  • simple and strong connection of modules among themselves;
  • seasonal temperature differences do not affect operational properties;
  • the material does not contain harmful impurities and is not toxic.

The standard color range of plastic grilles is black and green.

It is not recommended to use plastic modules on surfaces with complex soils, as this can shorten the life of the grate under increased mechanical loads.

Concrete Lawn Modules

Initially, concrete structures were used to equip lawns. The specifics of their installation is the same as that of plastic cells: the blocks are laid next to each other on top of the soil.

The peculiarity of concrete structures: they are optimally suited for summer cottages with hard soils, where it is difficult to create a drainage system suitable for the site.

Benefits:

  • long period of operation;
  • high rate of strength - the modules have proven themselves in the design of driveways of vehicles;
  • affordable price;
  • no special preparatory work is required before the installation of structures.

Disadvantages:

  • some "ugliness" - the concrete structure does not completely close with vegetation;
  • solid weight of the grate;
  • installation of modules is carried out using special equipment.

When installing concrete modules, reinforcement is not used, so improper installation will not “live” for a long time. Also, the quality and brand of concrete affects the period of operation. The average period of use of the track is 25-30 years.

Rules for laying the lawn grate

Incorrect installation of the modular system can lead to subsidence and destruction of the structure; therefore, installation technology must be followed.

  1. Marking tracks on the site.
  2. According to the marking, 20-25 cm of soil is removed.
  3. The surface is compacted, and the sides of the track are strengthened (you can use the concrete casting method on the formwork).
  4. A sand-gravel layer is filled up to a height of 15-20 cm (the thickness of the layer is determined by the load level).
  5. Geotextiles are laid to drain and protect the path from weeds.
  6. A layer of sand about 3 cm thick is poured and its surface is carefully leveled.
  7. Plastic modules are laid (for country paths, you can use a -5 cm thick grate). A layer of soil 3 cm thick is poured into the cells.
  8. Lawn grass is sown, and the entire structure is covered with soil to the brim. The surface is gently watered.

When marking garden paths, it is important to harmoniously fit them into the landscape of the site. It is also desirable that the design of the paths organically complement the overall landscape design of the site and the exterior of the buildings. Thus, if natural stone was used in the decoration of the facade of the house, then you can safely use it when creating paths (border a path or lay out a pattern of a lawn grate and stone).

Lawn Care Tips

Constant and proper maintenance will be the key to a long service life of eco paths.

For cleaning snow in the winter, tools with a safe coating (plastic shovels) are used. In summer, it is quite enough to regularly trim the vegetation (it is advisable not to allow the growth of grass above 5 cm).

Laying the lawn grate

Damaged structural modules must be replaced.

In the dry period of summer, paths are watered.

Strengthening the soil with a lawn grate

For better grass growth, appropriate fertilizers are used. Regular weeding of weeds will help preserve the well-groomed appearance of the path.

In addition to the main function - creating the ability to quickly and comfortably move around the site - garden paths participate in zoning the area of the site, and also play a decorative role, so by combining different forms and materials in an original way, you can create an exclusive site design and realize individual creative ideas.
