3D ceilings: new planes in the interior (20 photos)
Content
The use of three-dimensional images is one of the fashionable areas in interior design. It appeared with the development of computer technology that allows you to create and print images with high resolution. And if a little earlier, designers limited themselves to creating photo wallpapers on the walls, now they have paid attention to the only remaining “white sheet” in the room - the ceiling.
It turned out that the creation of three-dimensional images on the ceiling can dramatically change the feeling of space in the room: add air, visually expand the walls, increase the height, make the look soar in the sky. The ceiling in the hands of a skilled designer, like a blank canvas by an artist, turns into a work of art. This is based on 3D printing technology.
3D illusion technology
The main techniques for creating stereo images are embossed photo printing and multilevel ceiling systems. Often, both of these techniques are combined to create an even greater effect of space. Let's consider both methods in more detail.
Stereo printing
Large inkjet printers, the so-called plotters, are used to print large canvases. They allow you to print on fabric canvases or polyvinyl chloride film. The base can be matte, glossy or satin. An interesting effect is given by a translucent film. The width of the film can reach 4 meters, the fabric - a little less. Solvent ink is used for printing. To enhance the 3D effect, UV ink is used.
Tiered ceiling
Multilevel designs will help to convey the stereo 3D effect of the ceiling as accurately as possible. It is only necessary to skillfully beat the transitions of color and shadow between levels. An experienced designer using the game of chiaroscuro will create an amazing motion effect, and clouds will float above your head, birds of paradise soar, the starry sky flicker or butterfly wings flutter. The movement of air in a room created by an air conditioner or fan will enhance this sensation. For the installation of ceilings of this kind usually use special drywall.
Stretch 3D ceiling
It is easiest to apply the image on a perfectly even, stretched surface. This technology has many advantages:
- the stretch ceiling with the image applied to it is easily washed off from any contaminants;
- the coating is resistant to temperature extremes, sunlight and high humidity;
- a stretch ceiling with a relief pattern will easily hide all the irregularities of the main ceiling: joints, cracks, communications;
- installation is simple and does not require removal of furniture, after it does not need a separate cleaning;
- paintings and paints are made from environmentally friendly products and have no harmful fumes;
- such a ceiling will last a long time, fully paying off the invested funds.
Using a 3D drawing when designing a stretch ceiling, it is necessary to remember some limitations. So a tightly stretched canvas is afraid of sharp objects and may disperse. All work should be trusted only to professionals who comply with all the technology. Otherwise, such troubles as sagging ceiling, uneven joints, unpleasant odor from poor-quality materials are likely.It is also better for experts to entrust the installation of the lighting system, since the power of the fixtures for this type of ceiling is limited.
Stretch ceilings with 3D effect in the form of a starry sky, clouds in blue skies, tropical flowers and butterflies, bright fruits are very popular. Also, your ceiling can become the wall or the bottom of a huge pool, if you decorate it with the image of dolphins, starfish, ocean algae. Abstractions, geometric patterns, various symbols, ornaments look unusual.
To decorate the ceiling, you can use your own photos and drawings. In a small room with relatively low ceilings, it would be better to look at a small drawing that does not occupy the entire ceiling. There are no restrictions in the selection of images, but it must be remembered that too bright colors and stormy subjects will tire and negatively affect the psychological state.
3d pvc suspended ceiling
3D photo printing is widely used on polyvinyl chloride panels. The panels have excellent hygienic properties, which allows them to be used without restrictions in specialized rooms: pools, bathrooms, and medical facilities. Skillfully selected 3D pattern on the panels for the ceiling will create the necessary atmosphere:
- fill with air and visually increase the space of the pool;
- give the ceiling of the bathroom marine color;
- plots from favorite fairy tales and cartoons will help young patients cope with excitement at the doctor’s examination or during medical procedures;
- the right colors on the ceiling made of PVC panels in the kitchen will create a feeling of cleanliness and freshness.
Drywall ceilings in three-dimensional design
It is from drywall that you can create a figure of any complexity on the ceiling. Working with gypsum plasterboard sheets requires certain skills. In the finished design there should not be visible cracks, joints, irregularities. To create a beautiful ceiling, creative and spatial thinking, design skills, accurate calculation, and the artist’s instinct are also needed.
To create a 3D ceiling from gypsum plasterboard, it is advisable to take into account that only rooms with high ceilings are suitable for design, since during work the height can decrease by another 30-50 cm. Although there are certain techniques by which the ceiling becomes visually higher.
For the complex design of rooms with curved structures, they use a special drywall, which is called design. Instead of cardboard, a fiberglass mesh is introduced into its composition, which allows you to bend the sheet as you like. Compared to conventional GCR, the designer is thinner and lighter, although more expensive. Its use allows not only to significantly facilitate the work, but also to create real masterpieces with it.
At the beginning of the work, they draw sketches on paper, then transfer them to a special program that allows you to see the finished product taking into account light sources. Then the sketch is transferred to the ceiling and the frame of the future product is mounted using a metal profile. At the same time, they are engaged in the installation of lighting devices. Lastly, the main material is cut and screwed. On the finished ceiling made of drywall, set the tension with applied photo printing.
3d photo wallpaper on the ceiling
As a basis for wall murals on the ceiling with a 3D pattern, thick laminated paper is used. It costs a lot less than textile canvases. For greater strength, linen or silk threads or polypropylene fibers are added to the paper base. 3D murals in the presence of certain skills can be glued on their own or entrusted to the master.
In construction stores there is a large selection of ready-made murals on the ceiling, but if you wish, you can order printing according to your own sketches or photographs.Custom 3D printed murals will cost a little more than ready-made factory analogues, but the design of the room will be unique.
A ceiling with a 3D pattern can become a real work of art and for a long time bring emotions of joy and kindness. It is only necessary that it be combined with the style of the whole apartment, office, cafe, shop or the whole building. To create a true masterpiece, it is better to contact specialists with a high artistic taste and work experience.
