Art Nouveau bathroom (21 photos): examples of interiors and finishes
Content
There is a very fine line between modernism and modern. It is believed that modernism is a continuation of modernity, only taking into account the latest fashion trends, while modernity in its “pure form” is a decorative interior using flowing lines and floral ornaments (furniture, decorations, etc.) in the interior, although today these two concepts are closely intertwined, and designers increasingly combine modern with modernism to decorate various rooms. For example, a bathroom in a modern style looks very original.
How to create a modern style in the bathroom
Colors
As mentioned earlier, Art Nouveau directly owes its origin to natural motives, and therefore the color scheme of the bathroom (tiles, panels, etc.) must fully correspond to them. All shades of green, gray, beige and brown, as well as light tones of pearl gray and sky blue, will be appropriate here.
Walls
For the decoration of the walls of the interior in the Art Nouveau style, the use of a wide variety of materials is allowed: europanels, washable wallpaper, tile or decorative panels. The main thing is that the walls should be decorated with textured curvilinear ornaments and bizarre bends. A great solution, for example, wall tiles with floral patterns - a beautiful and stylish design.
Floor
As for the floor in the Art Nouveau style bathroom, it is often decorated with mosaics, floor tiles or made bulk. This solution is simply ideal for bathrooms, since the bulk floor does not have butt joints, which means that the service life of the floor covering increases significantly. In addition, bacteria or mold do not appear on it. Parquet, as well as laminate in this case is undesirable, although today you can find a coating with high resistance to moisture. Of course, floors imitating natural wood create a truly chic bathroom design, but then a powerful ventilation system is also a must.
Again, do not forget about the curved lines and the natural ornament (tile, tile with patterns, etc.).
Ceiling
Ceiling finish in light or white colors. If the layout of the house allows, then you can make a window opening on the ceiling, which eliminates the need to place a large number of lamps.
Note: the visual expansion of the room is facilitated by ceiling multi-level structures.
Zoning space
The division of the bathroom area into separate sections in the Art Nouveau style is exactly the same as the design with the presence of zoning in other rooms. For this, furniture, partitions, and color borders, and materials that differ from each other in texture are often used. But the most common method of such zoning is glass partitions. For example, showers in the bathroom can be separated from the common room with matt or colorless plexiglass walls.
Sometimes partitions are created by combining various building materials: on the one hand drywall, on the other - plastic, wood, tile or glass.
Sinks and bathtub
Of course, not only an extraordinary design allows you to make the interior of the bathroom in a modern style unique. An important role is played by the choice of sinks, as well as the bath itself. It is better to give preference to models of simple form and with the presence of original ornaments.
Bathtubs
Unusual looks, for example, a bathtub, trimmed around the entire perimeter of wood. It remains only to pick up other wooden furniture to get a final design in the end.
You can use a bathtub of a classic oval shape, but then it is advisable to install it in the center of the room, carefully considering the rest of the interior and installation of communications. They should not be visible to the eye.
Sinks
In this case, washbasins on a solid stone countertop are suitable - simply and restrained. The classic option for the Art Nouveau style is also the sink in the shape of a rectangular tray.
Note: many designers advise using another very unusual trick - the Art Nouveau bathroom with two rectangular segments, beveled to the middle, which form a hole for draining the water.
Window
Window openings in the Art Nouveau bathroom are not only a source of light, but, like furniture, are the main accent. It is better to narrow them and place them closer to the ceiling in order to free the walls for installing various communications and ensure normal access of sunlight to the room.
Currently, the most popular solution are corner and panoramic windows. Of course, this design looks very impressive, but it is not suitable for all bathrooms.
Note: a panoramic window located too close to the bathtub or sink will constantly fog up, and dirty stains will remain on it from contact with water.
Decor
As mentioned above, modern is furniture, accessories and jewelry in a minimal amount. But still there is a solution: an interior with bright color accents in the form of a home plant or an unusual rug. Also, the bathroom will be decorated not only with original tiles, but also, for example, a chandelier that stands out against a plain background, as well as an interesting vase, candlesticks or paintings with an abstract pattern.
Curtains in this case are not so important. Of course, if the area of the bathroom allows, then curtains on the windows and classic-style furniture will be quite appropriate. Do not forget about the resistance of textiles to moisture.
Lighting
The Art Nouveau interior provides for the use of lamps, sconces or chandeliers in the form of plant shoots, tree branches and interwoven leaves. The classics of this style are wall and crystal lighting fixtures.
