Repair and decoration of the corridor if there is a cat or dog in the house (57 photos)
To become the owner of a four-legged pet is tantamount to having a child.
Peter Githers. An unusual cat and its ordinary owner. Love story
When planning a repair of a hall, you can come up with more than one original design. But such interior elements as traces of teeth and claws will not please even the most loyal owners.
What else can smaller brothers “please”?
- Wool.
- Puddles.
- Dirt from the street.
- Fat (for example, on wallpaper from constant contact).
- Dents on furniture and breakage.
The entire apartment is in danger zone, but I would like to talk separately about the design of the hallway. There, cats and dogs are especially eager to frolic, appear after walks and, as a rule, have a permanent corner in the form of a couch or a small house.
So, we will go through different parts of the corridor and talk about what needs to be considered if you started to repair it.
Flooring
- Carpet. This option is good if the pet is a cat or a sphynx cat.
- Laminate. Not insured against damage during the taming of the animal to the toilet. As a result, the animal can be trained quite quickly, but the swelling will remain until you change the cover. Another drawback is the clatter of claws is heard, so that the pet even in the late night will unwittingly inform you about its movements.
- Parquet. It is not as resistant to mechanical stress as a laminate. But after the dent and scratch, it’s enough to carry out a small repair so that it becomes as good as new, but not so with the laminate. Other advantages: you can choose an original design, and the animal will not “get” you with a clatter.
- Linoleum. Fortunately there is a large selection - give preference to models with anti-vandal coating. Otherwise, scratches are provided, and especially large and frisky individuals can tear linoleum with their teeth.
- Tile or porcelain stoneware. Due to their exceptional strength and moisture resistance, these materials remain an ideal hallway covering in the house where the cat or dog lives. We note that porcelain tiles due to some differences in manufacturing technology are stronger than tiles, although they have an almost identical design.
What is important to remember
The bed of the animal is a kind of epicenter in which minor troubles can arise. To exclude them, put a piece of carpet under it and do not forget to clean it from time to time.
Whatever coating you end up with, let it not slip. Choosing the wrong textured surface of the floor covering, you risk the health of your pet: there is a known case when a cat thus dislocated a paw. If a kitten or puppy appears in the house when the repair has already been completed, additionally take care of the non-slip coating.
Walls
- Vinyl or fiberglass wallpaper. Wear-resistant and durable, they will provide worthy resistance when the cat tries to leave some art on them. You won’t wash such wallpapers thoroughly, but carefully remove the dirt with a damp cloth - you are always welcome.
- Panels at the bottom of the wall. Alternatively, cover part of the wall in the animal’s reach zone with durable materials: particleboard or MDF panels, plastic, artificial stone. Other possible materials are film or linoleum. They are not so durable, but the affected area can be easily replaced. As in this case, you can improve the design: lay gypsum molding on the border between the listed materials and wallpaper (or whatever you have at the top of the wall). There is no desire to "break" the wall? Close the bottom of the plexiglass. The cat, seeing the usual wallpaper and not being able to reach its clawed legs, will be very surprised.
- Structural paint (including marble chips). Show your taste and imagination, and such walls will become the organic basis of the interior. It would never occur to anyone that this material was chosen forcibly.
- Bamboo canvas (or bamboo wallpaper). This material is scratch and abrasion resistant. They can close both the lower part and the entire wall. In general, it helps create a comfortable and modern design.
- Flock. Despite its delicate appearance, this upholstery fabric is very durable. She is easy to care for, and her pile is easily restored. Therefore, it can be safely used for decorating the walls of the hallway.
Entrance doors
- Upholstered entrance doors will live exactly until the cat or dog is asked to walk, so refuse them immediately so as not to fork out for additional repairs.
- Vandal proof plastic. You can order a finished door with this durable coating or special anti-vandal linings.
Other
The vase that the cat knocked over is almost a classic. Do not leave easily moving figurines, mirrors, jars with perfumes and loose cosmetics in the reach of the animal. The same goes for plants. The latter can also harm the health of cats or dogs, if they take up their tasting. Also make sure the paintings are well fixed. Dumping, they can not only ruin the design, but also injure the animal.
The corridor, especially the long one, is not only a room at the entrance, but also for some people a treadmill, or even a runway that a cat might suddenly want to use. Therefore, chairs, bedside tables, banquets should confidently take their places, be stable and not impede active movement.
When making repairs, provide a closed shoe cabinet, so as not to tempt the pet to try it on the tooth or otherwise use it for other purposes.
Having completed the repair, provide for a sufficiently wide mat at the front door, on which, if necessary, you can wash the paws of the dog returning from a walk.
Doors leading to other rooms would be well fixed with stoppers. Animals (especially cats) are sad, being in front of a closed door, and do not always have the opportunity or strength to open it on their own. Now there are pretty nice stoppers that not only won't ruin the design, but give it a twist.
Important
It is known how to protect children from electric wires: they fix it in an inaccessible place with the help of holders or place them in special boxes. Follow the same procedure if you keep animals. These measures will eliminate danger and keep the design organic.
While the repair is in progress, make sure that neither the cat nor the dog reaches toxic materials.
Providing the animal with bones, toys that can be nibbled, as well as claws and houses, you will be able to direct energy into a peaceful channel and keep the furniture intact.
so
Be a responsible owner and provide all the details related to such things as repairing the corridor if a cat or dog lives with you. This will save you from subsequent headaches, financial losses and at the same time allow your pet to live in comfortable conditions.
Still, they missed something while doing the repair, and there was a nuisance? Do not rush to get upset and swear. In the end, the characteristic footprint of a dog’s paw can be supplemented with applications and create an unusual design. And in place of a torn piece of wallpaper to hang a nice picture of durable material.
