At the same time, the decor is modest, it is possible to use original accents, such as brickwork or graffiti.
- Minimalism. From the name of the style, it becomes clear that it is performed using a minimal amount of furniture and decor elements. For this reason, this style is especially beneficial for small rooms, which can be visually increased due to light shades, geometry, simple shapes and lines.
- Provence. The romance of "Provence" is formed by pastel colors, an abundance of decor, flowers. The furniture is distinguished by the presence of retro objects or details made using the "antique" technique.
- Classic. The classic style is created by direct planning, parquet or stone floors, high ceilings. The decor is dominated by natural materials, restraint of the palette. The peculiar attributes in the form of columns, stucco moldings, candlesticks, sculptures, also determine this style.
Applicable Materials
To decorate the home space, all naturally occurring and artificially produced materials are used - from wood and granite to metal and plastic. Such materials may be:- textiles and ceramics as Provencal-style decor materials;
- chrome and steel surfaces, quite often used in the "loft" style;
- wood and stone - a common raw material used for many areas, in particular "Provence", as well as classics.
Ethnic design
Among the styles, there are options that arose on the basis of national characteristics. Among them stand out:- American. The interior is concise and functional, with a predominance of natural shades, as well as the lack of clear boundaries in space. Quite often, furniture is located in the center of the room;
- English. To create it, use furniture made from natural materials, a palette of warm colors, mahogany for the manufacture of skirting boards and cornices, dark wallpapers, as well as interior items (figurines, small pillows, paintings);
- Japanese. Among the materials used, they prefer rattan, bamboo, gunny, as for color preferences - cherry, brown-pink shades. Low furniture, fitted wardrobes, the use of screens are also indispensable elements of style;
- Scandinavian. It features white walls, wooden, sometimes wicker furniture, enhanced lighting, light curtains;
- African. In general, a restrained style with the presence of bright details, the same imitations under the skins of animals, masks, thematic figurines. Yellow, terracotta, brown tones prevail.
Distinctive features
Each style has its own differences. The determining factors are:- color shades. Features of design decisions can be traced by making a comparison between the Oriental and French styles. For the first option, bright shades are selected, the second type is drawn in pastel colors.
- location and amount of furniture. If designers recommend using classic and American styles in large apartments and country houses, then “minimalism” is appropriate for small spaces due to the small amount of furniture.
- materials used. While glossy gloss, mirrored surfaces, chrome-plated details are the constituent elements for the hi-tech style, the country style is performed exclusively with natural materials (wood, stone, clay, reed).
