When installing concrete modules, reinforcement is not used, so improper installation will not “live” for a long time. Also, the quality and brand of concrete affects the period of operation. The average period of use of the track is 25-30 years.
Rules for laying the lawn grate
Incorrect installation of the modular system can lead to subsidence and destruction of the structure; therefore, installation technology must be followed.
- Marking tracks on the site.
- According to the marking, 20-25 cm of soil is removed.
- The surface is compacted, and the sides of the track are strengthened (you can use the concrete casting method on the formwork).
- A sand-gravel layer is filled up to a height of 15-20 cm (the thickness of the layer is determined by the load level).
- Geotextiles are laid to drain and protect the path from weeds.
- A layer of sand about 3 cm thick is poured and its surface is carefully leveled.
- Plastic modules are laid (for country paths, you can use a -5 cm thick grate). A layer of soil 3 cm thick is poured into the cells.
- Lawn grass is sown, and the entire structure is covered with soil to the brim. The surface is gently watered.
When marking garden paths, it is important to harmoniously fit them into the landscape of the site. It is also desirable that the design of the paths organically complement the overall landscape design of the site and the exterior of the buildings. Thus, if natural stone was used in the decoration of the facade of the house, then you can safely use it when creating paths (border a path or lay out a pattern of a lawn grate and stone).
Lawn Care Tips
Constant and proper maintenance will be the key to a long service life of eco paths.
For cleaning snow in the winter, tools with a safe coating (plastic shovels) are used. In summer, it is quite enough to regularly trim the vegetation (it is advisable not to allow the growth of grass above 5 cm).
Damaged structural modules must be replaced.
In the dry period of summer, paths are watered.
For better grass growth, appropriate fertilizers are used. Regular weeding of weeds will help preserve the well-groomed appearance of the path.
