Therefore, the article will consider the features of decorative dishes as a way to decorate the interior of the house.
Types of decorative dishes
All dishes can be divided into 4 large types:
- Serving. As the name implies, it is used for serving. They do not cook in it, they use it only to decorate the table, and to eat from it. It is used in the living room and dining room.
- Kitchen Utensils with a purely functional purpose. These are all kinds of pots, pans, etc. It prepares food, which is then transferred to serving dishes and served at the table in the living room or hall. Only required for the kitchen.
- For storage. Designed for supplies: cereals, seasonings and other products. It can also be a decorative decoration. Often on sale you can see whole sets of storage, allowing you to arrange the kitchen in a single style. As a rule, in such sets all objects are already in the same style, with a single external coating.
- Sham. Utensils that have a purely decorative purpose. There is no practical benefit from it. This, for example, wall plates, various avant-garde curved colored bottles on shelves, etc.
Decorative dishes can be of all the listed types, except for kitchen. Of course, a frying pan or pan can also be used as an interior decoration, but for this you will have to think very carefully, have undoubted talent and a certain courage. In addition, intensive use for its intended purpose, for cooking, is difficult to combine with a decorative appearance.
What interior items can we rightfully classify as decorative dishes:
- Wall plates. Everyone saw such interior items decorating the walls in some houses, and even in restaurants. It looks especially beautiful when there are several of them on one wall. Such a plate can be glass, ceramic, and with a special coating that imitates these and other materials.
- Jugs and vases. Such dishes can not only be admired, but also used for their intended purpose - for example, to keep embedded flowers in a vase. But there are also such decorative vases for the house, for example, large Chinese flooring, in which they never put fresh flowers, but use them only for artificial compositions or simply keep them empty. Such a vase is a decoration in itself, especially if it is old and antique.
- Bottles, glasses, wineglasses, wine glasses. This decorative tableware can be an interior item and at the same time be used for its intended purpose. Of course, they don’t use it every day, but on holidays and celebrations - why not.
Features of decorative dishes
What features does decorative tableware have when using it in the interior:
- Such decorative products have the feature of "weighting" the interior of the house. Consider this moment. If there is monumental bulky furniture in the room, and even additionally fill the room with decorative dishes, hang plates everywhere and arrange huge vases, then it will be quite difficult in the room, it will “crush” it. But delicate delicate porcelain may come up.
- Large metal products, thick ceramics, clay will look better in spacious kitchens or in the living room, decorated in ethnic style. And the old, antique dishes look better in spacious interiors.
Material
What decorative dishes are made of:
- Ceramics. Probably the most popular material for decorative dishes, as well as for dishes in principle. It is also one of the most environmentally friendly and oldest materials on earth. Ceramic decorative dishes can be of any shape, it lends itself well to decoration, painting. From it make wall plates, vases and other products. Ceramics and clay have one property that makes them inappropriate for some interiors. This is a sloppiness, roughness of forms and drawings. In rustic interiors, country style, ethnic ceramic plates can look quite harmonious. But in modern, hi-tech, minimalist will be inappropriate.
- Glassware looks very stylish. Glass can be transparent, which is not possible with ceramics. This property of the product is very well used when decorating the interior of a living room or kitchen. Glass is universal, and glassware goes well with any interior. Crystal glassware - as an option for glass, but more luxurious.
- China. The material is akin to ceramics, only very thin, fragile and elegant. Porcelain produces very light, almost weightless dishes, with graceful curves, curls. And painted with delicate watercolors or pastel colors, it gives the living room or kitchen room airiness and weightlessness. Porcelain plates, vases, bowls and other objects perfectly decorate the interior of the house.
- Metal. Metal is very often used in the manufacture of decorative dishes. These products have excellent wear-resistant characteristics, which makes the dishes almost indestructible, metal is ideal for the kitchen. Most often, copper and silver are used in the manufacture of decorative dishes, and steel in the modern interior. But metals such as cast iron and aluminum can rarely decorate the interior of the living room and bedroom, as they have a purely practical purpose, not differing in special external beauty. On sale you can also find decorative objects from other materials, with a metal coating.
- Tree. Eco-friendly and beautiful material. However, wood utensils have features that make objects beautiful only under certain conditions. Basically, dishes made of wood will look only in the ethnic interior or in the rustic. Plates, trays and vases are rude, so they are not suitable for elegant interiors. Most often, wooden dishes in the interior are accompanied by elegant carvings with animal figures, curls. Often you can find such types of dishes in folk art.
Wicker items can also be included in this category. Various vases, wicker plates, baskets can be seen in the kitchen as a container for storing sweets, sweets, cookies. Great for cottage style and create warmth and coziness in the kitchen.
Paper, plastic, silicone products for decorating rooms are not used, as they do not have sufficient capabilities for this.
Room decoration
Let's look at the example of different rooms of the house, how to correctly and harmoniously implement their decor using dishes.
Kitchen
Of course, dishes - this is the subject of interior decoration, which perfectly matches the functional purpose of the kitchen. Here you can place both functional products for permanent use, and purely decorative.
- The main thing in the design of the kitchen is not to overdo it with the dishes. Here and so there is a large number of it, so that the kitchen space is also additionally loaded with many decorative plates and glasses.
- Since the kitchen often uses ceramic tiles for decoration, there should be a minimum amount of other items with a ceramic coating, including utensils. Otherwise, the room will lose its lightness. But wall plates most often look appropriate.
- Fine in the kitchen look elegant glass decorative dishes: glasses, wine glasses made of thin glass, at least transparent, at least matte, and other objects.
Canteen
This room, which is not in every apartment, is great for placing beautiful decorative dishes, which is very different from the kitchen. If this is a country house, then there is a dining room, as a rule, of considerable size - you can put a special cabinet-showcase where elegant elegant products will be exhibited decorating the interior: plates, vases, tureens and other products.
- Here you can use heavy products made of ceramics, metal and other weighty materials.
- Glass and ceramic dishes of large sizes are appropriate.
- Consider the style of the room. For example, in the modern dining room style, ethnic ceramic plates from the Turkish bazaar and the like are unlikely to be appropriate.
Living room
- In the main room of the house, it is better to put glass products that are elegant and give the room harmony.
- Wooden products are unlikely to be relevant for the living room, unless, of course, it is decorated in a rustic, rude style.
- Metal utensils will be appropriate in the living room in the form of a large elegant tray for tea or a large vase for fruit. There are options for the living room and with a metal coating.
Corridor, hallway, hall
- In this room of the house, it is rarely possible to see dishes, since in most apartments they are insufficient in size and purely practical, functionally intended.
- In the larger halls, you can see large ceramic floor vases. Wooden copies of such products may also be appropriate here.
Bedroom
- Here, too, you can rarely see something from the dishes, even decorative, since the functional purpose of the room does not correspond to this type of decor.
- In the bedroom, vases are appropriate for decorating a bedside table or cabinet.
- To decorate the shelves, if any, you can use colorful elegant bottles and other products of a purely decorative purpose.
- Decorative saucers or plates of small sizes may well decorate the wall above the head. But only if they fit the general style of the room.
Bathroom
Oddly enough, but in this room we can see decorative dishes, and it will be quite appropriate to look. As a decoration, small decorative dishes are often used in the bathroom: porcelain or glass glasses, cups, bottles. They can also be used to store toothbrushes, various care products, household chemicals, cosmetics, and other irreplaceable personal hygiene items. If wood products are used, then only with a special water-repellent coating.
