Often brilliant inventions and artistic masterpieces are created from the most ordinary, familiar and simple objects. It seems that this is inconceivably difficult, and sometimes even impossible, but once you try to make crafts from wire with your own hands and do not stop. It is simply amazing what wonderful things can be created from ordinary wire.
First turns
If you decide to try making wire crafts, you need to arm yourself with patience and some tool. Nothing complicated or expensive is required. Most likely, everything you need can be found in the box with the tools of dad or spouse:
- Round-nose pliers - tongs with round ends. There are cylindrical ones that make it possible to make turns of the same diameter, and tapering - each turn is less than the previous one.
- Wire cutter. They need to be selected depending on the diameter of the wire that you plan to use.
- Thin copper wire. For beginners, a wire with a diameter of 0.4 - 0.6 mm is suitable.
- You may also need beads, beads, decorative stones, a thin soft wire for braiding, silicone glue.
Where to start?
To get started, try the simplest crafts. These can be the contours of animals: cats, dogs, horses, fish, frogs; or any other items: stars, bells, lanterns, Christmas trees. It is quite possible to make a whole garland of these figures, which will admirably decorate the interior of a children's room. A child of 4-5 years old can participate in the creation of such simple structures made of soft copper wire.
Working with wire develops fine motor skills in children, gives room for imagination and self-expression, trains perseverance and attentiveness. Encourages the child to learn new things and strive to further develop the acquired skills.
First, use a thin wire that can be deformed by hand. To imagine the final result, draw the outline of the selected item on paper and periodically apply a wire blank to the template. It is possible to give rigidity to a soft product by wrapping it with the same wire in one or two additions.
Bright chenille
Simple, but bright and interesting, handicrafts made from chenille wire are obtained. An interesting fact: the chenille wire was originally intended for cleaning smoking pipes, but needlewomen quickly realized that amazing things could be made from it. Since then, chenille crafts have been loved by both adults and children for its soft, fluffy base, for its simplicity and suppleness in work, and bright beautiful products as a result.
A rich color palette and ease of use allows you to create a variety of crafts: from the simplest two-color snake, hares and chameleons, spiders and bees to entire flower beds of delicate flowers, complex three-dimensional shapes and panels and compositions.
Wire and beads
A little more experience and skill will require crafts made from beads and wire. Work with two different materials should start small. Small fish with multi-colored scales from beads, butterflies with colored wings, various key rings, pendants and jewelry, bracelets and necklaces, and many more simple crafts can be created from such simple, at first glance, objects.
One of the popular crafts made from beads and wire is various trees.The simplest of them is the tree of life, or as it is also called the "money tree". To make it you will need:
- Copper or aluminum wire. Its diameter depends on the desired size of the finished craft.
- Beads and beads. The size of their holes should correspond to the diameter of the wire - to put on it is not too loose, but without effort.
- Round pliers, wire cutters, a file (a small file for aligning wire sections) and silicone glue, a drop of which can be used to cover the sections so that they do not bulge or scratch.
There is no single rule for creating a tree of life. It can be made of aluminum wire or copper, placed in a circle or square. The number of branches and curls is limited only by your imagination and creative vision.
Another trendy trend is the bonsai tree. To create it, you will need quite a lot of consumables: a large number of beads of one or three colors, copper wire of different diameters, paper tape, brown paint, furniture lacquer, alabaster and a flower pot or a suitable stone, tool. Some experience in making crafts from wire and a phased photo or video master class will also be useful.
Crafts from improvised materials
You can make interesting and simple crafts from unexpected improvised materials. For example, from old nylon pantyhose. For crafts from nylon and wire you will need:
- the wire is not very soft, which will keep its shape well;
- nylon tights, better light;
- paints;
- kapron threads;
- silicone glue, sparkles, rhinestones and beads.
A frame made of wire is fitted with a capron, fixed with threads, if necessary, dyed in the desired color and decorated with sparkles, rhinestones or beads.
Crafts from kapron are delicate flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and birds. You can make them with your child - the process of coloring and decoration can be completely entrusted to your little creator.
Colored wire
Crafts from colored wire are a great activity for children. Working with flowers develops creative abilities, color perception of the world, imagination and fantasy. From colored wire without the use of paints and additional materials, you can create flowers, various insects, animals, figures and silhouettes of objects that can serve as decoration of the interior.
Sophisticated Products
How to make a good gift or a real work of art? You can try to make crafts from wire and thread - a rather complex type of needlework, called "ganutel". This product is made of a wire spirally wound around the base and threads stretched over it. Once it was very popular in Malta and today is experiencing its rebirth.
With a little training, you can “grow” beautiful flowers, create wonderful figures of animals and dolls, delight loved ones with your creativity.
Do not be afraid to try yourself in something new, to experiment and create, because from the simplest things, even such as wire, you can create a good mood, coziness and comfort.
