Pros of Round Sinks

Round-shaped sinks have a number of important advantages:

  • suitable for interiors of any style;
  • have a large depth of the bowl;
  • very compact;
  • make the kitchen more comfortable;
  • safe to operate.

A small sink with a small diameter is ideal for a small kitchen. It does not take up much space, but at the same time a huge amount of dishes will fit into it.

To make the sink convenient to use, you need not make a mistake with the size of its bowl. Round sinks for the bathroom and kitchen should be at least 16 cm deep. If their depth is less, then water spray will fly in different directions. If this is not so critical in the bathroom, then it is unacceptable in the kitchen, because while washing dishes, grease and drops of detergent will get on the walls with water.

A large amount of dishes cannot fit in a shallow sink, but at the same time, the kitchen sink should not be too deep. Its maximum depth is 20 cm. If it is deeper, then when washing the dishes you will have to bend over a lot, which can cause your back to hurt, so when choosing a sink, first of all, pay attention to its depth.

A round sink in the bathroom is ideal for families with children. If a rectangular sink is attached to the wall, then the child will sooner or later hit a corner. The round has no sharp corners, so this danger is excluded.

What material to choose?

Today round sinks and sinks are made of different materials. The most common:

  • ceramics;
  • stainless steel;
  • a rock;
  • glass.

The most economical and profitable option for the kitchen is the installation of a stainless steel sink. It can be made by stamping or in a more expensive, welded way. Sinks for kitchens made of stainless steel are acquired most often because they do not rust and do not darken under the influence of water and oxygen. Steel sinks are heat resistant. Even if you put a hot pot in the kitchen sink and turn on cold water, nothing will happen to the metal. Steel, despite its high strength, is flexible, so often the plates falling into the kitchen sink do not break. There are no pores on the surface of such a sink, so it is easy to clean, and bacteria do not accumulate on it.

Stone sinks have a higher price, because the stone is more expensive and looks more presentable. Sinks made of stone are very convenient in operation. This material, like stainless steel, is not afraid of sudden changes in temperature and does not deteriorate under prolonged exposure to moisture. Such shells are not afraid of any mechanical impact, with the exception of glossy surfaces, which are afraid of sharp objects. Also, aggressive detergents containing alkali or acid are not afraid of them. If small stone scratches appear on round stone sinks, they can be easily removed by treating with fine sandpaper.Also, bacteria do not accumulate on stone sinks, so they are ideal for installation in both the kitchen and the bathroom. Just imagine how stylish a black round sink against a white or gold tile will look.

Ceramic is a less durable material, therefore installation of white ceramic sinks is excluded. Even a small blow on a ceramic object may cause cracks, but at the same time, ceramics are not afraid of temperature changes and look beautiful, therefore, sinks made of this material have remained in demand for many years.

More recently, glass round sinks have appeared on the market. They are made of tempered glass, so such sinks can withstand temperature extremes and a small mechanical impact. Glass sinks are also not afraid of cleaning with various powders and gels; pathogenic bacteria do not accumulate on their surface.

However, these products also have disadvantages. On the surface of the glass sink, even small drops of water are noticeable, so its surface must be wiped well. All communications are visible through the glass surface, so the pipes should be as beautiful and new as the sink itself. In addition, a glass sink is several times more expensive than a ceramic one. And if there is no possibility, it is better to purchase a cheaper model. Not often, but still there are shells made of wood. They are usually made to order and installed in bathrooms made in eco-style.

Sink installation and model selection

Round shells come in many different types. For small bathrooms, a round overhead sink with a nightstand is suitable. Installing such a bedside table allows you to save space: you can hide not only drain pipes in it, but also hide cleaning products, shampoos, shower gels, soap and other little things for which there is always not enough space.

The round floor sink is suitable for a spacious bathroom. It is a high, one-piece ceramic cylinder, at the top of which there is a bowl and a tap. Such a sink does not require special installation, but it takes up a lot of space and is expensive. Also in the spacious bathroom, you can install a sink overhead on the countertop. The stone countertop is screwed to the wall and such a sink is placed on top of it. If the countertop is large, you can put two sinks - this is convenient and stylish. Its installation is easier than the mortise version.

For the bathroom, round sinks with a pedestal are also suitable. In this case, install the ceramic bowl on the stand, behind which the drain pipe is hidden. This is an inexpensive but functional version of washbasins. They look presentable, inexpensive and occupy a minimum of space. For a very small bath, a corner sink is suitable, the length of each side of which can be about 30 cm.

In modern kitchens, the installation of mortise sinks is most often performed today. Many people think that they know how to install a mortise sink, but in reality they fail. The fact is that the hole for the mortise sink must be made to the nearest millimeter. If you make a little mistake, an expensive countertop will be spoiled and you will have to order a new one. Installing a mortise sink allows you to save space: a cabinet is installed under the countertop, which is then actively used.

In modern stores you can find not only classic sinks made of stainless steel and white ceramics, but also made of frosted glass, wood, black, red and blue. Due to such a variety of materials and colors, round sinks are suitable for any interior style, from classic and minimalist to Provence and Art Deco. The main thing is that installing such a sink allows you to save space and makes the interior even more comfortable and thoughtful.
