This is an amazing piece of furniture, with an expressive graceful look, impressive luxury that does not age over the years. The chester sofa, created 3 centuries ago, was named after the furniture maker Chesterfield. The product managed to maintain its authenticity today. True, modern models have improved somewhat in detail, but the canonical original forms have remained unchanged.
Features of the Chester sofa
Even visually a leather Chesterfield sofa is significantly different from traditional antique counterparts:
- armrests with a back of a design are identical in height and thickness;
- the presence of a curl on top of the armrest, which reminds us of the English classics under the influence of Baroque;
- the silhouette that has a Chester sofa expands at the top, while retaining the rectangular shape of the model;
- original refined decor, in the front part of the structure, not touching the place for sitting, has a rhomboid shape (capiton fastener), trimmed with point elements where the threads intersect;
- Chester sofa upholstery is genuine leather or a high-quality synthetic substitute.
Modern models can have different colors: green, sand, burgundy, brown, snow white or black, but the shape and design always remain unchanged.
Varieties of models in shape and skin
As a covering, a modern manufacturer uses:
- Eco leather;
- Artificial skin;
- Velours;
- Genuine leather;
- Shenill;
- Flock;
- Faux suede.
Chester sofas are:
- Straightforward;
- Corner
- Rounded off.
The first is a direct chester sofa, most often produced in a two-bedroom or three-bedroom version. Corner in a more spacious variation with a berth or without it, its design is equipped with one or more rotary modules.
Materials and product design
The original design of this classic Chester sofa:
- Color. The traditional color is brown-red with different intensities. Leading manufacturers offer a chester corner sofa or a straight line in more than 40 shades, ranging from the usual for this model green, brown or red to milky white or avant-garde silver.
- Legs. They should not be short, but high, made in a conical or barrel-shaped form. In the original, they should be embellished with decorative dot elements. Current forms of legs can be spherical, on wheels, hidden supporting.
- Forms. The English Chester sofa for all manufacturers, without exception, has a classic shape, which has not changed much after so much time.
- Assembly. All models are assembled by hand.
- Wireframe. Triple or double Chester sofa has a natural wood frame.
- Upholstery. The base is covered with material painted using a special technology, most often it is velor or genuine leather.
- Filler. The Chester eco-leather sofa is filled with natural horsehair.
Foreign sofas can be filled with better quality filling, but they also cost many times more.
Chester sofa and interior
Could anything be better than a Chesterfield triple sofa in the interior, especially in the classic? He will never go out of fashion, he will continue to decorate the interior of the premises:
- In libraries and workrooms made in a classic or colonial style solution, models with dark leather upholstery will look great.
- A retro-styled, shabby-chic or art deco-style guest room is perfect for a model with an open armrest ornament, with a curl expressed on top. The sofas upholstered in aged artificial leather and rich-looking mahogany legs look interesting.
- In the living room, made in modern Art Nouveau and loft styles, you can put a Chester corner sofa with a velvet plain or velor upholstery in black or white with legs in the same colors.
- The brighter the Chester folding sofa will be chosen, the more stylish and contrast the room will look. It will become an accent that can dilute the meager design image. Therefore, for neutral interiors, they often choose very rich and vibrant shades of sofas, sometimes even acid options.
It must be borne in mind that all Chester sofas are installed in fairly spacious rooms, only there they can look the way they deserve.
