Parquet - a natural floor covering, consisting entirely or the surface of which is made of hard wood.
The main advantages of parquet are:
- environmental friendliness and naturalness;
- high artistic and aesthetic appearance;
- impact resistance and durability.
By color, parquet can be divided into three groups:
- light breeds: hornbeam, beech, ash;
- intermediate color scheme: cherry, oak, alder;
- dark breeds: walnut, wenge, ebony and mahogany.
Over time, parquet can change its color: it all depends on the type of wood, some can brighten over time when others get a darker shade. Major color changes occur in the first year after installation. It should be noted that parquet is characterized by seasonal variations in size. This is due to the effect of temperature and light on the material.
- A massive parquet is considered to be natural parquet, piece parquet, as well as their combinations.
- Piece parquet is the oldest and classic version, it is a set of planks with grooves and ridges for fastening, which consist of natural solid wood.
- Massive parquet - the main structural parts: front side, wear layer, crest and groove. It differs from piece parquet in just a large size.
The disadvantages of natural parquet:
- difficulty in laying;
- additional surface treatment after installation is required (varnishing of the parquet and grinding);
- sensitivity to temperature and moisture;
- relatively high price.
- Parquet board - a material made of several glued layers. Therefore, its second name is a three-layer parquet board. Of these, only the top layer is made of valuable wood.
- Pronto-parquet - the structure is similar to a parquet board, but the main difference is the pressed top layer according to a special technology.
- Panel parquet - consists of two layers: the lower one is chipboard or glued planks and the upper one is made of hard wood. As a rule, it has a square shape with grooves on all four sides, fastening is carried out using a narrow rail inserted into the groove.
Advantages of multi-layer types of parquet:
- simplicity in leaving;
- does not require additional processing;
- relatively low price;
- simplicity of laying.
Artistic parquet - the material has a different shape, texture and size. Using curved boards made individually, works of art are created. All planks of art flooring are designed in advance on special equipment.
