Parquet board in the interior

One of the popular types of flooring is parquet. It appeared several decades ago and during this period earned the fame of reliable, high-quality flooring in residential and non-residential premises. In appearance, single-lane, two-lane and three-lane parquet boards are distinguished. A single-lane parquet board is almost identical in appearance to a massive board. A two-lane board gives the floor a more embossed texture, and a three-lane board resembles piece parquet.

Parquet board device

Modern parquet boards consist of three layers:

  • upper layer has an average thickness of about 4 millimeters. This layer is made of fine wood and is subjected to several stages of processing in order to give high aesthetic properties;
  • middle layer is the thickest, up to 9 millimeters thick. The slats of this layer are fastened together using a lock connection. For the manufacture of slats, both coniferous and hardwood trees are used, depending on the model of flooring;
  • bottom layer made from coniferous trees. It is a slats and serves as the basis for the entire structure. This is the thinnest layer, its thickness usually does not exceed 1.5 millimeters.

All layers of the floorboard are glued together, perpendicular to one another. The top layer is coated with varnish or oil. Lacquer coating is much more durable and resistant to external influences. But the oil coating needs frequent updating - an average of four times a year.
