Scandinavian style private house design

Modern Scandinavian private house

For residents of the Scandinavian countries there was no inherent pursuit of luxury and wealth, which was reflected in the design of the interiors. Scandinavian style exudes simplicity and conciseness, comfort and coziness of the hearth. Not without reason, many of our compatriots are eyeing this laconic and understandable style when planning the repair of their own homes. Usually, homeowners are captivated by the simplicity of the decoration, the practicality of furniture and bright accents in the decor of design projects in the Scandinavian style. The abundance of natural light, a bright palette, natural materials and some minimalism, with which the rooms are decorated in the style of northern Europe, attract the attention of many Russians. We, like the Scandinavians, are familiar with cold winters, endless snow fields, the warmth of a fireplace or stove, gathering around us the whole family and friends at home. In this publication, we would like to demonstrate the modern interpretation of the Scandinavian style using the design of one private house as an example. We hope that the design ideas of conciseness and ease of home design will be useful to you.

Scandinavian style private house

As soon as we got into home ownership, we see that in this house the designers used almost all the canons prescribed by the Scandinavian style - they used snow-white walls and ceilings, a wooden plank for flooring with a unique natural pattern, preserved the feeling of spaciousness even in rooms with a small area, allowed the sun to to penetrate the light everywhere, without stopping it with curtains or curtains, we used natural materials to make furniture, used fur bedspreads and rugs.

Living room

Passing the hallway, we find ourselves in a small but freely furnished living room with snow-white trim and the use of dark wood for flooring. A small sofa with black leather upholstery in the seats and backrest, a rocking chair and a small built-in seating area - that’s all the furnishings of this ascetic living room. Thanks to the large window, the space is literally flooded with sunlight, and the snow-white finish makes it even larger than it actually is, creates a light, even airy atmosphere.

Double sided fireplace

Located in the living room fireplace, in fact is part of the kitchen and dining space. The two-sided design allows you to admire the fiery flame, both from the recreation area, and from the functional segments of the preparation and absorption of food. The laconic design of the fireplace does not distinguish it from the rest of the decoration of the room, but it still becomes the center of attraction of all glances.

Family hearth

The next room is a spacious kitchen-dining room, decorated with the same laconicism and simplicity as the living room. In the decoration of this space, we see only one difference - the design of the floor covering, which for practical reasons does not continue the Scandinavian tradition of using wood. The light finish merges with the no less snow-white design of the furniture set, only dark spots of silhouettes of household appliances and worktops dilute the bright idyll. The linear layout of the kitchen with the island leaves enough free space not only to comfortably carry out all work processes and move around the room, but also to feel the spaciousness and freedom in this kitchen space.

Snow-white kitchen-dining room

The dining table is brought close to the kitchen island to save usable space. The dining room composition is completed by lightweight constructions of snow-white metal chairs. Several white pendant lights practically dissolve against the general background of the room.

White smooth facades

There are two exits from the kitchen-dining room - to the back yard and to the adjacent space of the lounge, through which you can also get to the street.Large glass doors with a dark design provide not only access to the backyard of the home, but also provide the interior of the home with bright, natural light.

The space for sleeping and relaxing is not limited by anything from the rest of the rooms, it is only on a certain elevation in relation to the kitchen. And again, a snow-white finish, a dark spot of a berth, a small metal chair-armchair and only a built-in woodpile as a practical decor. Nothing violates the idyllic simplicity, coziness and comfort of a space designed in the Scandinavian style with its inherent minimalism and love of natural materials.

Lounge

In the Scandinavian style, everything is subordinated to practicality and simplicity, laconicism and comfort. In utilitarian premises, the style does not change its concept - simple, bright surface finish, only the necessary interior items, furniture and accessories. The design of this bathroom with a shower demonstrates the fact that very little is needed for a comfortable, practical and outwardly pleasant environment.
