How to insulate the floor
“How and with what to insulate floors?” This question interests many people. Especially it excites those who live in private homes and people whose late include central heating. Floor temperature is an important indicator of comfort. After all, even with insulated walls and a roof, heat can easily escape through the floor. Here is a list of cases when you should seriously think about floor insulation:
- balcony or loggia;
- ground floor apartments or private houses;
- garage and basement.
Such floors are usually insulated by the method of flooring the insulation material between the floor and the leveling screed. You can use the following materials:
- Basalt cotton wool is very popular due to its low thermal conductivity and sound insulation. Like all materials, it has some disadvantages - non-environmental friendliness. In addition, this material does not tolerate moisture well.
- Styrofoam. The use of this material is also widely used in floor insulation technologies. It has excellent moisture resistance and low thermal conductivity. But quite fragile and environmentally friendly.
- Extruded polystyrene foam. Unlike conventional polystyrene foam, polystyrene foam is much stronger and more durable. This material has higher thermal conductivity and moisture resistance.
- Expanded clay. The properties of this material can reduce the thermal conductivity of concrete. Karamzit is quite environmentally friendly, but it has the ability to absorb moisture and hold it for a long time.
- Cork is a natural insulation that has excellent thermal insulation characteristics. This material should be used only for thermal insulation of falsepoles.
To insulate floors, this means not only increasing the level of comfort, but also significantly reducing heating costs. How to insulate concrete floors, and what materials to choose for this, we will try to tell in detail in this article. Before choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account the climatic zone, the purpose of the room and its features. The insulation of an apartment or private house, bathroom floor, bedroom or balcony will be significantly different. The materials from which the insulation is made must meet certain requirements, these are:
- high strength
- durability;
- low thermal conductivity;
- moisture resistance;
- durability;
- density;
- flammability;
- ease of use.
When the optimal material is selected, you can begin to work. The technology is to create multi-layer insulation. It consists of the following steps:
- Remove the old screed, if any, and clean the surface of debris and dust.
- Then a layer of concrete is poured, which serves as the base for the insulation
- After the concrete has hardened, lay down the waterproofing. If mistakes are made. moisture penetration into the insulation is possible, which will make the insulation process useless. To make everything reliable, we lay down the waterproofing in the fly fishing, and seal the joints with adhesive tape.
- After the waterproofing is ready, you can lay the insulation layer.
- The material is laid on the adhesive in a checkerboard pattern. Along the perimeter of this layer we lay the damper tape and pour concrete.
