Preparatory work
The good news is that in order to apply liquid wallpaper, it is not necessary to level the walls, but primer they still have to. The walls are primed twice: first with vertical movements, and after drying - horizontal. When the walls are dry and the mixture is ready, you can begin the main work.
In order to apply on the wallsliquid wallpaper they must first be properly diluted. This is advisable to do the night before work. In a bucket of water, splendor first pours out, which, if desired, can not be used. Then you need to shake the bag with the rest of the ingredients well so that they mix well and pour them into the water with shine. All this must be thoroughly mixed until a homogeneous consistency. It is most convenient to do this with your hands. In this case, you can not use gloves - in the composition of liquid wallpaper there are only environmentally friendly natural substances that will not harm your skin. After the mixture is kneaded, you need to put it back in the bag and leave it overnight. Do not worry, they will not deteriorate - in this state, a mixture of liquid wallpaper can be stored for one week. Please note: each bag of liquid wallpaper is mixed separately so that the resulting portions fit back into their containers.
Liquid wallpaper should be applied to the walls in small portions using a metal trowel. The coating thickness should not be more than 0.5 cm. If necessary, the mixture can be diluted, but not more than 1 liter per bag of wallpaper. Before you start the next bag you need to mix it with the remains of the previous one, as they may vary slightly in color. When all the walls are glued with wallpaper, then the small roughnesses need to be smoothed with a trowel dipped in water, and the edges of the slopes should be trimmed with a cardboard knife.
Drawing a pattern of liquid wallpaper
If you don’t like the boring monotony of the walls, then using simple tricks from liquid wallpaper you can make an elegant drawing.
Consider a step-by-step process.
- Prepare a stencil from the cardboard with the necessary pattern;
- Drag the image onto the wall by drawing a pencil around it;
- Using a small spatula, apply a mixture of 2-3 mm thick on the wall, try to make the mixture go beyond the outline of the picture by 1-2 mm;
- Now with a small spatula, we adjust the mixture from the edges inward, until we see the outline of the picture;
- Carefully trim the surface of the picture to avoid differences and irregularities;
- When the mixture has dried, you can proceed to the next adjacent pattern.
This pattern will give your room an exclusive character. But this is not all, the advantages of such wallpapers are enough - they hide wall defects, do not accumulate unpleasant odors, are easy to apply and are durable.
