Ceramic tile cutting
Performing tile laying work, cutting ceramic tiles is inevitable. In the corners of the room there is no way to install the whole tile, there is a need for cutting. Skilled cutting can be performed at home with the necessary construction tools.
Before you begin work tile laying, It is advisable to get some construction tool:
- ordinary glass cutter;
- manual and electric tile cutters;
- angle grinder (grinder);
- simple nippers for a tile.
Ceramic tile cutting with glass cutter roller
Using a conventional glass cutter, straight or curly cutting is performed, however, the second option is very difficult to implement. To do this, you need to perform several sequential actions: use a felt-tip pen to draw the cut line, then put the tile on a flat surface and hold it motionless with your left hand, and hold the glass cutter with your right hand, and draw along the cut line with constant force towards you. The glass cutter is held vertically while maintaining an angle of 90 degrees, and we lay the tile on the surface, simultaneously combining the cut line with the edge of the table, and sharply press on the free edge of the tile and break off the unnecessary piece of tile.
A cutting line is applied to the surface of the tile, along which the tile cutter is slowly drawn. Ceramic tiles are held throughout the entire cutting time. In the case of using stone tiles with filler in the form of carbide fine chips, an electric tile cutter is not used.
The use of this option is possible only with small volumes of wall cladding with ceramic tiles. A skilled craftsman uses a more modern construction tool, an electric tile cutter, which improves the quality of work and reduces the time to complete work. The tile cut by this tool always has absolutely equal edges and without chips.
Ceramic tile cutting “grinder”
With the help of a “grinder”, as a rule, they carry out direct cutting of tiles and curly cuts. This equipment is compact, affordable and easy to use. However, the obtained sections of the edges of the tiles of poor quality, require additional operation is a thorough grinding of the edges of the tiles.
Manual tile cutter
This tool is used for cutting ceramic tiles with a thickness not exceeding five to six millimeters. It significantly reduces the operating time and quickly enough produces tiles of the required size. It must be remembered that the denser the structure of the tile, the better narrow sections of tile are cut from it.
