Cork floor in the interior
At the end of the 19th century, Portuguese builders discovered such material as cork, which to this day is used in the decoration of the premises, including as a floor covering. Today, modern cork flooring has the following advantages:
Resistance to moisture: thanks to a special treatment (which is important for the bathroom);
Hygiene: lack of moisture is an unfavorable environment for the development of fungus and bacteria;
The unique flexibility of the material (you feel unusual softness and ease in walking).
It has a unique texture (it will complement and decorate almost any interior);
Despite the use of many polymer blends, preserved natural naturalness;
The material is considered environmentally friendly;
Application area
The material is used almost everywhere: having resistance to aggressive environments and moisture, it is well suited for bathroom or the kitchen, unique appearance and original texture can complement and decorate the interior of the living room and bedroom. And naturalness and environmental friendliness makes this material a great option for children's room. The cork coating itself has a fairly smooth and pleasant to the touch surface: when walking, the floor surface is slightly deformed, while you feel unobtrusive lightness. If we take into account all the above advantages of the material, then we can safely say that cork is an original and at the same time practical material for decorating an apartment or a private house.
Types and features of the material
In total there are two types of cork coating: floating and adhesive.
- Floating cork coating resembles parquet floorboards, which can be interconnected using a locking latch, which is made in the same way as a laminate.
- Glue cork floors are attached to the floor (as you might guess from the name) with glue, most often these are sheets 300 * 300 mm in size.
In order for the cork coating to last long enough, it is covered not only with protective varnish, the material is processed with special mixtures that increase strength, stability and thermal insulation properties.
By purchasing cork flooring, you make a decent choice. Indeed, having such a set of qualities, this material is one of the leaders among all the finishing options. And the high cost is compensated by the comfort and aesthetics that will remain in your home forever.
