Masking tape or skirting for stretch ceilings
Compared with plasterboard constructionsstretch ceiling quite easy to install, to erect it, mount the fasteners around the perimeter of the room, after which they stretch the ceiling canvas. But on their own, without special equipment, it will not be possible to make it. Although, you can make the final touch and hide the perimeter gap after mounting the ceiling without a wizard. There are two options with which you can solve the problem:
- masking tape that is inserted into the groove of the mounting profile;
- skirting board for suspended ceilings, which are glued to the wall with glue.
Masking tape
A special tape for the stretch ceiling is cut to size and, pressing, is inserted into the groove of the mounting profile. Everything is quite simple, but choosing the color of this material, you need to consider the following nuances:
- a tape matching the color of the ceiling canvas will expand the area;
- a tape of the same color as the walls visually extends the room;
- the contrasting color of the tape will clearly define the boundaries of the ceiling, but the walls should be perfectly even.
Plinth for stretch ceilings
The range of skirting boards for this ceiling is very large, they are narrow and wide, for painting and the colors of wood or stone, plastic and polyurethane. When choosing a skirting board, you need to be guided by your own taste preferences, not forgetting the color scheme and the style of the room. This seemingly small detail can change the appearance of the whole room, making it strict, elegant or completely tasteless.
There are several rules regarding the installation of ceiling skirting boards for tension structures:
- such a plinth is mounted by gluing it to the wall, for high-quality gluing, the wall should be perfectly clean and even;
- having no experience in such work, it is better to entrust this matter to a specialist in order to avoid possible damage to the new ceiling casing;
- baseboards are usually painted before gluing it to the wall, and installation is done before wallpapering;
- for cutting corners, a special device is used - a miter box, cracks in the corners are puttied or filled with sealant;
- It is strictly forbidden to glue the plinth to the ceiling.
It is important to understand that this decorative element of the design of a stretch ceiling should not "overload" the space, but rather emphasize the whole luxury of a glossy ceiling. And here it does not matter at all what exactly the plinth or tape will be used in decoration, the main thing is to maintain the style of the room and observe all the rules of installation in order to enjoy the perfect ceiling for a long time.
