Creative kitchen with fireplace
Recently, more attention has been paid to fireplaces, moreover, not necessarily located in the living room. Since most of the time we spend in the kitchen, including guests, we often receive in the kitchen, the presence of a fireplace in it will significantly increase the feeling of coziness and comfort, especially on cold winter evenings - the atmosphere behind a family dinner will be completely different.
Kitchen design options with fireplace
Probably, as in any other room, design options are, first of all, played out taking into account the size of the available area, as well as the possibility of removing the chimney. In urban apartments, the solution to this issue is very limited. Especially if the area the kitchen is quite small. In this case, the ideal option would be to install an electric fireplace that matches the general style of the interior and harmoniously combines with kitchen furniture. Usually, for the fireplace installation site, a wall is chosen that is perpendicular to the wall with the window opening so that direct daylight coming from the window does not interrupt the cozy glow coming from the fireplace. The chimney in this case will be artificial. You can insert into it, for example, a TV - an original and functional option. And if it is a private house or a cottage, then the alignment will already be committed by another. Indeed, in this case, the design fantasy is not limited to anything, because there is a wide field of activity for the implementation of any creative ideas. And the location of the fireplace can be absolutely anything, even the most unexpected, for example, in a large column located in the kitchen, or in a bar, or in a dark corner next to the chairs - there are a lot of options. Here again, it all depends on the function that you give the fireplace in the first place: if it is decorative, bearing coziness and comfort, then the most suitable location will be a zone remote from the workplace, and if the fireplace is primarily dedicated to practicality (the function of the stove), then in this case, it’s the place to be placed along the working wall.
And yet, which fireplace is better to install?
Of course, a real wood-burning fireplace is the most spectacular and cozy piece of furniture, introducing elements of antiquity into it. The whole question is that it is impossible to install such a design in a city apartment and at the same time observe all safety precautions. Therefore, such a luxury is available only to owners of spacious country houses. In this connection, it is possible to offer an alternative, for example, a gas fireplace that does not require firewood, however, which has a real flame, which creates an atmospheric burner located in it. Currently, there are even models that can be moved to different places, if the need arises. True, their installation requires a special permit from the house management due to the fact that natural gas is explosive. And installing an electric fireplace is perhaps the most optimal and easiest option. Firstly, such structures are absolutely safe, environmentally friendly, easy to use, have a pleasant aesthetic appearance, and also perfectly heat the room. And for urban modern apartments - this is just the perfect option.
Materials needed for fireplaces
A variety of materials go to the manufacture of portals for fireplaces: wood, ceramic tiles, plastic, stone, metal. But usually wall constructions are faced with natural or artificial stone, natural wood is often used. This makes them more like real wood fireplaces.
Products from cast marble, as well as from glass ceramics or tinted glass (from composite materials) also look very impressive.Regarding the shape, we can say that the classic version is the U-shaped shape of the fireplace, lined with marble, granite, onyx or natural stone. For decor, stucco is usually used, as well as bas-reliefs or columns. Sandstone or shell rock fireplaces typically come in country-style interiors. Also, the lining may be specially treated wood. And with high-tech style models from refractory glass, colored ceramics or metal wonderfully harmonize. By the way, constructions made entirely of glass, having a triangular, rectangular or even cylindrical shape, look very original. As for the Russian style, as a rule, these are fireplaces decorated “antique”, the most popular. They are decorated manually and look like real works of art.Fireplace place
After you have made your choice, you need to decide on the place to install the fireplace. If this is a country house, then the place where the chimney passes is laid out with brick or a new pipe is built, depending on the chosen place. If the kitchen has a square or rectangular shape, it is best to place the structure away from the door and window, near the longitudinal surface of the wall. In this case, on the contrary it will be possible to arrange a sofa. If the area of the room is small, then it will be most appropriate to build a fireplace near the end wall, then arrange a soft corner in the corner.
For city apartments, electric fireplaces are usually used, which are easily placed anywhere due to their mobility. Fireplaces are installed close to the wall, and are built into the wall or placed in a niche.
