Why are we incredibly carefully choosing a color palette, finishing materials and furniture? Yes, because we do not care in what environment to fall asleep at night and what to see first, opening our eyes in the morning. The modern owner of an apartment or private house tries to design his bedroom as comfortable, practical, but attractive, fashionable as possible. In order to keep up with the emergence of new, relevant trends in the field of bedroom interior design, we have collected for you 70 of the latest design projects with a wide variety of design solutions.
Trends in the creation of bedroom design projects in 2018
Many factors influence the formation of trends in the most diverse areas of our lives. Recently, the main criteria have become rapidly declining resources, issues of overpopulation, environmental safety. It is not surprising that many trends in the design of residential spaces are associated with minimalist motives - nothing more, just the necessary set of items for a comfortable life. Excessive luxury was considered bad taste. To create in your house a semblance of a palace in which representatives of the nobility lived in the century before last - Moveton.
For most of the Russians, such trends are only at hand. The creation of simple and concise interiors is possible for many owners of apartments and houses of the middle class. And you can always demonstrate your well-being with the help of natural materials (they are not cheap), especially since all specialists in the field of design of living spaces stand up for safety regarding human health and the environment.
So, we will identify some of the main trends in bedroom design in 2018:
- the main trend - ease of execution, as the whole image of the room, and its individual elements;
- a light and spacious room is a priority, if the room area does not allow you to create light images filled with light, space and freedom, you need to use design techniques to visually increase the volume of the bedroom;
- in the bedroom only the necessary set of furniture. Of course, the bed is the main piece of furniture; some luxury is possible in its execution; you should not save on arranging a berth. But additional furniture - storage systems, bedside tables or stand tables, ottomans or pouffes are preferred by the most concise models;
- luxury in a modern bedroom is manifested, first of all, in the use of natural materials - valuable wood, genuine leather, glass or crystal, refined textiles of natural origin;
- the use of decorative elements in the bedroom interior is inevitable, because every owner wants to see not only the practical and functional atmosphere of the bedroom, but also a cozy, comfortable room. As a decor, quite practical interior items are used - lighting fixtures (a central chandelier, table lamps or wall sconces), window drapery and textile design of a berth (even simple decisions in style of execution, but made of expensive, luxurious fabrics, will increase the level of luxury of the whole room )
Separately, I would like to note the feature of modern sleeping quarters, which has remained relevant for many seasons. We are talking about the versatility of this important room.For some, the connection in the bedroom of several life segments is associated with a lack of usable space in the entire dwelling, while others are guided by personal comfort, ease of use of certain functional areas. But no matter what the motivation, the placement of a workplace, dressing table, dressing room or boudoir in the bedroom is a very convenient design move.
Styles that influenced the formation of modern bedroom design
The design of the modern bedroom is eclectic. Borrowing some of the motives from various styles, stringing them on the “skeleton” of the basic style (most often, the now-so-comfortable “comfortable minimalism” is taken as a basis) allows you to create design projects that appeal to most Russians. If you have an artistic flair and a persistent sense of proportion, then you can use several stylistic directions when creating the bedroom interior, otherwise, experts recommend stopping on two versions of the style.
Given the fact that laconicism and even modesty are in fashion, minimalist stylistics has the main influence on the formation of a modern style. And one of the clear favorites in this direction is Scandinavian style. He was loved by designers around the world for his desire to create the most comfortable design projects with minimal effort. The Scandinavian-style bedrooms are filled with light and spaciousness, their image is light and unobtrusive. The abundance of white color (mainly due to the use of this universal tone in the decoration of walls and ceilings) creates the feeling of a clean sheet on which you can place any items of furniture and decor. But even in this case, the Scandinavians show restraint, using many shades of another neutral color - gray. The whole presence of this rather cool atmosphere is “warmed up” by the presence of wooden surfaces - it can be a floor covering, furniture or even an element of decoration (ceiling beams, wall panels).
Another feature of the Scandinavian style is that on a fairly cool background of white walls to arrange very cozy home decoration. In the bedroom of the designated design, there are always woolen or linen fabrics, wicker items (baskets for magazines and books near the bed, for example, or rugs, mats), living plants, decorative items made by your own hands (the main thing is not to go too far with the quantity and stop in time to stop do not overload the image of the sleeping quarters).
Given the total fashion for everything natural, natural, it is not surprising that designers around the world are interested in eco style. The frantic pace of modern man’s life, man-made disasters, global warming problems and other natural disasters make you think about ways to use the resources of our planet. After a noisy and gassed metropolis, most of us want to relax in a small oasis of warmth and comfort - our own home. And the bedroom in such a cozy nest becomes a relaxation center. It is not surprising that in the interior of the sleeping room not only natural materials for surface finishing and furniture manufacturing are so actively used, but also the natural motifs are traced in literally every detail of the situation - from the choice of the color palette to the location of objects relative to the cardinal points.
Wooden surfaces are the easiest (albeit not cheap) way to bring the warm breath of nature, its freshness and purity to the image of the bedroom. In modern design projects of bedrooms, wood is used not only for flooring or for the manufacture of high-quality and durable furniture. Finishing walls (or parts thereof) and even the ceiling using wood panels is the trend of the last few seasons.With the help of wall-mounted wooden panels, an accent surface is usually drawn up behind the head of the bed, but it can also be a wall located perpendicular to the bedroom place - the weight depends on the size, shape and layout of the room.
The total fashion for simplicity and conciseness, the pursuit of minimalism and the fight against excess luxury do not cancel the love of many classic style registration of living spaces. Of course, the combination of the above-mentioned factors could not but affect the ways of using classical motifs in the preparation of modern bedroom designs. The traditional style is no longer so luxurious and inaccessible, a democratic approach allows you to use the basic principles of style in medium-sized rooms and for homeowners with the largest budget for repairs.
Actual design for a small bedroom
In spacious rooms you can not limit yourself in choosing a stylistic solution, color palette, quantity and scale of furniture. But what should be done, for the majority of Russians whose bedrooms are small-sized rooms? Indeed, in most apartments a large room most often becomes a living room, and a small one is reserved for a sleeping room. So, as "assistants" in the design of small spaces, you can use:
- shine;
- color;
- form.
If there is no opportunity to increase the natural illumination of a small bedroom by replacing a standard window with a panoramic window, you will have to create a visual increase in the amount of light. This can be helped by light colors (all shades of white), mirror and glossy surfaces. Light decoration in the case of a small bedroom is not a recommendation, but rather acts as a prerequisite. Most often, designers do not even resort to the favorite technique of creating an accent wall in very small rooms. After all, a bright color or a colorful pattern of the selected surface will emphasize not only the size of the room, but also possible flaws in architecture and decoration.
In a small room, it is better to avoid furniture with sharp corners. And it's not only personal safety - with a lack of free space, bruises from sharp corners are almost inevitable. But the fact that sharp corners emphasize the parameters of any object, indicate its size, and this is what we want to avoid in the interior of a small room. Smooth lines and slightly rounded corners will help to create an image of the room, which will visually be perceived easier, more harmonious.
In a small room it is very important to prioritize and select only the most necessary items for a comfortable stay in the room. And we are talking not only about decorative elements, various tabletop frames, indoor plants in pots and other things dear to the heart, but also cluttering up the space with furniture, you also have to act strictly - leave only the most necessary (it is better not to have massive furniture, to have protruding parts and excessive decoration).
With the textile design of a small bedroom, it is also important not to overdo it. In the design of the berth, it is better not to use a large number of decorative pillows, pads and rollers. Window decoration also requires restraint. Thin, translucent tulle and blackout curtains of the traditional model will be the best option for drapery. In rooms where there is little sunlight, you can do only with curtains or rolled fabric curtains.
And in conclusion
Interior design trends do not set a rigid framework. When choosing the interior for your bedroom, you are free to choose any design option that meets your requirements for beauty, practicality and functionality of the space. Fashion can only indicate the vector by which the concept of designing a sleeping room can develop. After all, the main requirement that we all make to the bedroom is to make our life more comfortable, more pleasant, calmer, and ultimately happier.
